About Us
The Carlinville Writers Guild is a community of writers from Carlinville and surrounding Illinois and Missouri communities. First formed in October 2010, the Guild includes experienced writers and novices who create works in multiple genres, including poetry, non-fiction, creative non-fiction, long form and short form fiction, and essay. Experienced and aspiring writers, age 16 or older, are welcome to join in one of the Guild's bi-weekly Saturday morning meetings at the Carlinville Public Library. There’s room at the table for all genres of writing as well as any level of writing experience.
We provide writing prompts at each meeting members can use to write a piece for the following meeting. Or, if they wish, writers can follow their own muse. Challenge words and writing prompts are solely to stimulate creativity.
Our Facebook discussion page provides information about upcoming meetings and activities, along with occasional writing tips.
